European leaders seem intent on doing everything possible to not allowing Israel to win its war against Hamas. Yet, if they truly want the war in Gaza to end, it is better for them to support Israel in its just efforts to defeat Hamas.
Pray for Prime Minister Netanyahu, his security cabinet, and the IDF following decision to expand the military operation to the whole of Gaza. Israel has stated five principles for concluding the war. We can also use this in our prayer strategy. Here are the five points state by Israel’s security cabinet:
-
The disarming of Hamas.
-
The return of all the hostages — the living and the deceased.
-
The demilitarisation of the Gaza Strip.
-
Israeli security control in the Gaza Strip.
-
The establishment of an alternative civil administration that is neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority.
Israel’s fight is a fight against terror. It is a warfare against evil. It is a righteous assault on Jew-hatred. We can expect that Israel will be subject to even more opposition as it seeks to achieve these objectives. But we must pray that the hearts and minds of those who are set against Israel will turn to bless Israel. We can expect more propaganda against Israel, biased reporting and false accusations, but we must pray that the truth will break down these strongholds.
We need to pray for Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron, and Friedrich Merz. These three keys leaders of the UK, France and Germany respectively, have demonstrated political weakness that is only emboldening Hamas further. We need them to change their course.
Pray for the UK relationship. It is being reported that Israel could cut security ties with the UK following Starmer’s announcement that Britain will recognise a Palestinian state if Israel does not agree to a ceasefire.
Pray that the German chancellor will reverse his decision to ban arms exports to Israel following the decision made by the Israeli cabinet to take full control of Gaza. Germany is the second largest arms exporter to the Jewish state, so this is significant. It isn’t yet clear whether the UK might follow Germany’s bad example. Let us pray that it will stand firm.
Finally, let us continue to pray for Israel’s victory and for the return of the hostages.
“Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans,
And those thrust through in her streets.
For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah,
By his God, the Lord of hosts.”
Jeremiah 51:4-5
