As we prepare to pray for Israel, our hearts are breaking at the loss of such young lives that fell victim to the flash-floods in Israel.Nine young ladies and one young man, all aged 18, were tragically killed in a flash flood on Thursday as they were hiking south of the Dead Sea as part of a group of 25 teenagers.

Thirteen of the 25 teens on the hike were receiving treatment for light to moderate injuries, including hypothermia.

The hike was organized by the Bnei Zion pre-military academy, named after an IDF soldier, Ben-Zion Shai Hadad, who was killed in 2006 in the Second Lebanon War. They were due to start the programme in the coming year, and the hike was intended as a pre-program bonding excursion.

Thousands of Israelis attended the funerals on Friday of the 10 young people , who were all aged 18.

Let us pray for all those mourning today, especially the parents, family members and friends that will be experiencing such devastating loss. We pray that the Lord will surround them with His love and comfort and that they will experience the peace of God at this very difficult time.

Thank you for joining us in prayer.

The following prayer points are to assist you as you pray. For the stories behind these prayer points, please view the CUFI Weekly News Round-up, by clicking here.
  • Pray for the family and friends of the 10 young people killed in flash-floods whilst hiking south of the Dead Sea. Pray that they will experience God’s comfort at this very difficult time.
  • Pray for the 13 other members of the group that are recovering in hospital.
  • Pray for the Jewish community in Germany amid recent antisemitic acts. Praise the Lord for the united response this week at demos in Berlin and other cities around Germany. It seems unimaginable that Jews in Germany should be in this position over 70 years since the end of the Holocaust, but pray that leaders in the country will have the courage to take a bold stand and act against this hatred.
  • Praise the Lord that the Czech Republic has set a staged-plan leading to a move of its embassy to Jerusalem. Pray that the move will progress unhindered.
  • As Hamas announce their violent protests are set to continue throughout Ramadan and intend on spreading to Judea and Samaria, we pray for continued protection for Israel’s borders. Pray for wisdom for leadership and the IDF.
  • Praise the Lord for the significant developments in North Korea this week and for the commitment to end the War after 65 years and “complete denuclearization”. Pray that the steps towards peace will be genuine by North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and that the outcomes will lead to greater freedom for Koreans currently living under the brutal regime.
  • Pray for CUFI as we prepare for our next imminent campaign, that we will be led by the Lord in providing a campaign that will be highly effective and glorifying to Him.
And “pray for the peace of Jerusalem”
