A Palestinian child dying of starvation is heartbreaking. Images of the emaciated body of Abdul Jawad al-Ghalban, 14, and the story of his tragic death have made headlines around the world. The Palestinian boy had a medical condition which required specific milk formula that would allow his body to digest the food and absorb nutrients. Sadly, his family could not obtain this for him and were forced to watch their son slowly succumb to hunger.

Abdul’s death is a tragedy. He was an innocent victim of this war that has claimed so many lives. If the correct food could have reached him, he might have survived and we have absolute sympathy for his family.

Despite Abdul’s clear medical needs, many people around the world will be completely unaware of his unique medical condition. Instead, they are being sold a false narrative that Abdul was just a normal boy who was deprived food because of Israel. But there is no indication of malnutrition in the other family members who aren’t suffering from his rare condition, so while they could obtain food for themselves, they were unable to get the specific food for Abdul.

The anti-Israel narrative, which is part of the spiritual battle against Israel, is purposely distorting the facts to paint Israel as being evil. There are countless lies being spread that Israel is purposely withholding aid and starving Palestinian civilians. They are accusing Israel of “weaponizing hunger,” when in reality, Gaza’s hunger is being weaponised against Israel, despite Israel doing more than most to try and alleviate this crisis.

As soon as Abdul’s death was announced, we heard that “20 more” had starved to death that same week. This is an outlandish claim with no verification. It also does not compute. This number is more than the total number of people reported to have starved to death in Gaza since 2023. So for starvation to suddenly and rapidly increase, and to do so while more aid has entered Gaza than previous months, does not seem to add up.

There is a feeling among Christians that something is coming to a head. The propaganda against Israel is ramping up in coordinated fashion. As Watchmen on the walls, we must be level headed when we look at this situation, because Hamas cannot be trusted as either a reliable source of information or as a provider of aid for Palestinians in need.

We need only look at past claims of Hamas distortion of the truth.

You may recall at the beginning of the war, on 17 October 2023, a rocket hit a hospital. Hamas immediately said it was an Israeli airstrike and that hundreds of Palestinians were dead. A Hamas camera crew was at the scene with a Hamas ‘journalist’ saying more than 500 people had died. This news went global in an instant.

It took a few days for the truth to come out. Many experts, journalists, and governments, including the US, UK, France, and Germany, publicly concluded that the al-Ahli hospital blast was not caused by Israel, but was the result of a misfired Palestinian rocket, most probably from Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). And instead of 500 people being killed, the reality was no more than 50 people had died.

Why do we mention this attack? Because these lies stick and Hamas knows this tactic works.

We have seen this same pattern of propaganda every time anything like this happens.

Hamas makes up numbers and greatly exaggerates atrocities:

  • One child who died of hunger is turned into twenty.
  • Fifty civilians killed by a Palestinian rocket is turned into five hundred civilians killed by Israel.
  • The fact that 70% of those killed in Gaza are fighting age males gets flipped to being “mostly women and children”.

The same occurs when Israel starts to feed Gazan’s directly rather than using the United Nations’ flawed system. Suddenly, we hear headlines each day that dozens of people have been killed by Israel. Israel is painted as a madman who guns down innocent Palestinians who are lining up for aid.

It is ludicrous. Israel has done more to help feed its enemy’s civilian population than any other military during wartime. It makes no sense for Israel to try and feed Palestinians while at the same time killing them indiscriminately. Israel does not benefit in any way from Palestinian deaths; in fact, it hinders Israel.

Hamas, on the other hand, benefits hugely.

Yes, there are reports of incidents of security forces working with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), the US and Israeli backed aid provider, firing at Palestinians. These incidents absolutely need to be investigated. But there are far more reports of Hamas shooting at its own civilians. Likewise, once Palestinians leave the designated aid zones, they are often targeted by Hamas and their aid is removed from them.

This week, Hamas even fired a rocket directly at a GHF aid distribution site. They are that blatant about it, but the world ignores it.

The United Nations is also failing to distribute aid inside of Gaza.

COGAT reported this week that there are thousands of pallets of food and other aid inside Gaza that is just sitting there waiting to be collected by the UN. This aid is enough to feed ALL of Gaza for over TWO WEEKS.

The UN is falsely accusing Israel of “purposely starving Gazans” as it abandons its duties of feeding Gazans with the ample aid that is available.

This is not only libellous, it is evil.

Israel and the US have been forced to start distributing aid themselves because the United Nations is so unreliable. The UN, particularly UNRWA, is too embedded with Hamas to be effective. Much of the aid that goes through the United Nations is slow and ultimately ends up in the hands of Hamas. Hamas is then stockpiling it, or worse, selling it back to Palestinians for a profit.

Even foreign aid being sent in by British charities is being sold for extortionate prices. Samaritan’s Purse UK thanked their donors for donating £100 per shelter kit as they celebrated these kits entering Gaza. Those same kits are now being sold in Gaza’s markets for 750 shekels (£158). This was aid that was designed to be given freely to Gazan’s now costing Gazan’s more than it cost Brits to donate for the aid.

This is charity aid being exploited by Hamas to fund its terror network. And it is gutwrenching to think that generosity of the British public is being exploited in this manner.

It is not just shelter packs, but basic essentials which are costing Gazan’s dearly. There are reports of flour being sold for £75 per bag, sometimes far more. It is pure exploitation.

The reason this exploitation occurs is that Hamas needs to control the aid in Gaza in order to keep its grip on Gaza. Humanitarian aid is a literal lifeline for the terror group.

There is a direct link between increased aid entering Gaza and Hamas’s profits increasing. Remember, this is free aid given to the Palestinians which they are now paying for and Hamas is profiting from.

This is the reason Hamas hates the aid being distributed by GHF. It is bypassing Hamas’s exploitation and is a threat to Hamas’s finances and its control over the people.

There is currently more aid entering Gaza than at any point in the war. It should not be costing anything for Gazans to feed themselves if it were freely and fairly distributed to those who need it most. In fact, if there are families struggling to access food, it is not because of a lack of supply within the Strip, it’s likely because they lack the finances to pay these exploitative prices.

The worst part of all of this is that the media, governments, and the United Nations have, for the most part, taken Hamas’s side in all of this. They are blaming Israel for the “man made famine”. They are blaming Israel for Hamas murdering its own people. Every single group that is blaming Israel instead of Hamas is not interested in helping the Palestinians; they want to demonise Israel.

It should be no surprise that as free food has entered Gaza, Hamas has upped its propaganda. It should be no surprise that the world, including governments, the media, and the United Nations, have all ramped up their condemnations of Israel for giving free food to Palestinians.

Hamas doesn’t want to lose this war. The world doesn’t want Israel to win this war.

The Palestinian people are being used as pawns in all of this.

Hamas has everything to gain from Palestinian suffering, so it is no wonder they are spreading propaganda. They are a radical Islamist terrorist organisation, or more accurately, a death cult. They thrive on the suffering of the Palestinian people, and they are doing everything in their power to amplify that suffering; from building tunnels under hospitals and schools, to using their civilians as human shields, to stealing aid from them and selling it back to them. There is nothing Hamas wouldn’t do to harm both Palestinians and Israelis.

The Bible warned us that the nations would turn against Israel. We are watching that prophecy unfold in real time.

The world has been hoodwinked by Hamas’ propaganda campaign which makes Goebbels look like an amateur. Their blood libels against Israel are being spread by media outlets, governments, global bodies, and human rights groups without critique or question. Israel is being demonised and hated more and more, despite it trying to help the people of Gaza more than the Palestinian leaders.
