A Cabinet Minister has warned that a “creeping cultural acceptance” of anti-Semitism is taking over in Britain.

Eric Pickles, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, said that a recent series of anti-Semitic acts across the country had been “almost casual”, warning that the “irrational hatred of Jews” could return to Europe.

Mr Pickles visited Auschwitz this week for the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camp where over 1 million died. Following the visit, he cautioned that “only the most naïve” would dismiss the potential risks for Jews in Europe.
