Two more members of the Labour party have been suspended. One, a shadow minister’s aide, the other, a long term member.
Elizabeth Dudley, who was a member of Kate Osamor MP’s parliamentary staff, ‘liked’ two Facebook posts from a West Bank activist, who Jewish News revealed yesterday is to speak at an event organised by Newcastle Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
One of the posts stated that the next American president was already decided by the “Zionists”. The other likened Nazism to Zionism with a picture of dead children.
Osamor told the Jewish News: “Having been made aware of these posts, the member of staff has been suspended with immediate effect.”
Action was also taken against Terence Flanagan, a member in Hampstead and Kilburn. There were seventeen incidents where he had used anti-Semitic rhetoric for which he refused to apologise.
While neither of these figures are high ranking, it is right for Labour to quickly suspend any members that are seen to express anti-Semitic views.
