President Trump’s tweet in the Farsi language in support for Iranians protesting the regime is the “most liked Persian tweet” in Twitter’s history.

The Washington Examiner reports that protesters in Iran on Saturday called upon Khamenei to step down after Iran admitted to shooting down a commercial airliner on which dozens of Iranian citizens were travelling. That evening, Trump sent out a tweet in Farsi, saying that he stands with their efforts.

“To the brave and suffering Iranian people: I have stood with you since the beginning of my presidency and my government will continue to stand with you. We are following your protests closely. Your courage is inspiring,” Trump wrote.

After just one hour, the tweet had received over 100,000 likes. It has more than trebled at the time of publishing this article.

“This tweet by @realDonaldTrump with more than 100k likes is already the most liked Persian tweet in the history of Twitter,” Saeed Ghasseminejad, senior adviser and financial economist at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, claimed. “A strong show of support by Iranians for Trump’s Iran policy, something the MSM does not and will not report.”

Anti-regime protests continued in Tehran today, but these crowds deliberately avoided walking over giant Israel and US flags that were placed on the floor to mock the Iranian regime’s enemies.

Those who chose to walk over them were booed by the majority of Iranian protesters who recognise that Iran’s problems do not rest with the West but with the totalitarian dictatorship.

Thousands of Iranians are courageously opposing the regime.

But there were also reports that Iranian police shot at demonstrators and used tear gas.

Footage emerged on social media showing people wounded with gunshot wounds. Other posts showed police in riot gear hitting protesters with batons on the street.

Meanwhile, pro-regime militia groups surrounded the British embassy in Tehran on Sunday chanting “Death to Britain” and burning British and Israeli flags. The escalation follows Saturday’s detainment of the UK ambassador to Iran who was accused by the regime of involving in the anti-regime protests.

More than 10,000 people have now signed CUFI’s petition calling for the UK government to withdraw from the disastrous Iran deal.
