In a powerful display of solidarity and shared values, Christians across Britain will gather in Central London on Sunday for the “Never Again Is Now” prayer event.

CUFI will join other Christian groups in supporting the event, organised by Christian Action Against Antisemitism. The event aims to stand publicly with the Jewish community and Israel, currently grappling with unprecedented levels of antisemitism and facing the aftermath of a brutal terrorist attack that included the taking of 243 hostages.

The event seeks to send a resounding message that Jews worldwide are not alone. Christians from various denominations, the Jewish community, and public figures will converge for an evening of prayer, hymns, reflections and solidarity.

The primary purpose of the gathering is to unite people against antisemitism and religious extremism. The theme, “Never Again Is Now,” echoes the sentiment that silence in the face of rising hatred is not an option. Participants will hold candles as a symbol of light in the darkness, demonstrating their commitment to peace and unity.

Among the distinguished speakers are representatives from various Christian denominations, members of the Jewish community, and notable public figures. Songs will be sung, and prayers will be offered to bring comfort to the Jewish community mourning the recent atrocities and to support Israel in its defence against an unprovoked war.

The ‘7/10 Human Chain’ organisers are collaborating with the event, keeping the 239 still kidnapped by Hamas at the forefront of hearts and minds. Thomas Hand, the father of Emily – who celebrated on Friday her 9th Birthday under Hamas Captivity in Gaza – will speak at the event and share the stories of the hostages families.

CUFI Executive Director, Des Starritt, says, “This is a historic moment for Christians in the UK to make a stand against antisemitism. Despite the barbaric acts carried out by Hamas Terrorists on 7th October and the ongoing hostage situation many protesters on the streets of London seem willing to excuse Hamas and instead blame the Jews. Antisemitism, or Jew Hatred, is one of the oldest evils and Christians need to stand up and speak out whenever it raises it’s ugly head. That time is now. This event is important to show the unity between Christians and Jews and I urge as many Christians as possible to come along to pray and stand in solidarity.”

Hayley Ace, from Christian Action Against Antisemitism said: “Now is the time for collective action against antisemitism. We must not be found to be silent, timid or apathetic to evil. We must learn from history. We will gather, be visible and show our love in action, we stand beside our Jewish community in unity.”

The Metropolitan Police and CST will be present throughout the event.

This year, we want to do more to bless Israel and the Jewish people.

We know that as we bless Israel this year, God will bless us, just as He promised in Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Now is the time to bless Israel and the Jewish people.
