Soldier seriously wounded in stabbing attack near Hebron
The victim, a soldier, suffered a stab wound to his neck, and was evacuated to a Jerusalem hospital in serious condition, the army said in a statement.
“The assailant stabbed the Israeli in the neck, wounding him severely,” the statement read.
The attacker was shot and killed by other troops as he carried out the knife attack near the entrance to the Palestinian village of Beit Anun, north of Hebron, the IDF said.
A paramedic responding to the scene said the soldier was stabbed several times.
“There was a 19-year-old there, conscious but suffering stab wounds in different parts of his body. We gave him life-saving treatment in an effort to get him to the ER as soon as possible,” the paramedic said. He was then transported to hospital.
Attempted stabbing on soldier thwarted
Israeli security forces on Monday shot a Palestinian man in the West Bank city of Hebron as he attempted to stab an IDF soldier near the Tomb of the Patriarchs.
The attacker died of his wounds on the way to hospital, the IDF said.
The attacker’s knife didn’t penetrate the soldier’s ceramic vest, Walla news reported. The soldier wasn’t injured in the attack.
