(JC) Four thousand anti-Israel dolls were seized by customs workers in Haifa on Tuesday.
The dolls, which were dressed in the Palestinian colours of red, green, black, and white, and in face-covering keffiyehs, were set to be sent to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, and bore the slogans “Jerusalem is ours” and “Jerusalem, here we come”.
Tax Authority officials described the dolls as ‘inciting dolls’, pointing to the rocks held in their hands as encouraging rock-throwing and inciting Palestinian youth to violence against Israelis.
The dolls were found in a container labelled by the importer as containing articles of clothing, rugs, and plastic products, which was held back by Haifa customs workers for further investigation.
Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said: “These dolls were making their way to the Palestinian Authority with one clear purpose, and that was to poison the minds of innocent children.”
“The Palestinians are continuing to incite their youth, using any means necessary to educate them about violence and hatred. Here, it’s in the form of a doll,” she continued.
Haifa port’s customs manager, Kobi Yahav, said: “Customs units will continue their day to day work in preventing smuggling attempts to Israel. We place special importance on weapons and incitement materials, especially in times like these.”
