Hamas owned TV channel, al-Aqsa TV channel, aired a programme for children this month in which two young boys, dressed in military outfits, were asked a series of questions about what they want to do when they grow up.
The first boy, Muhammad, told the hosts that he aspires to be a member of the al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing. He recited a poem about the Palestinian liberation of Jerusalem which he said he learned from his mother.
“O Jerusalem, I shall redeem you with my soul and my blood. I shall liberate you from the Jews by means of the al-Qassam Brigades, of course. I bring glad tidings to our prisoners: Salvation is near,” he said.The other child, Zakariya, said he wanted to be an engineer. When asked why, he responded, “so that I can blow up the Jews.”The teenage host of the show quickly corrected the boy’s answer saying, “No, we want to blow up the Zionists. You mean the occupation, right?”
The shows other host, a boy named Wissam, encouraged the boys enthusiasm by saying, “Keep waging Jihad and, Allah willing, when you grow up, you will wage resistance against the Jews.”
“The occupation,” interrupted the female host, correcting what Wissam said.
“Bomb the occupation,” continued Wissam, “and the Al-Aqsa mosque will be liberated, Allah willing.”
The segment was translated and uploaded to YouTube this week by the Middle East Media Research Institute, a US-based media watchdog group.
While our children grow up watching TV programmes that teach values of friendship, kindness and forgiveness, Hamas are trying to instil in their children a hate for Jews and a desire to kill.
It is so sad to see the innocent children being lead astray in this manner. In fact, it is outrageous.
We must pray these children do not repeat the mistakes of their fathers.
