Abu Dhabi seeks to open a diplomatic mission in Israel as quickly as possible, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement, citing a letter from the Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to his Israeli counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi.

The letter, which said the UAE intended to open its embassy in Tel Aviv, was forwarded to Ashkenazi during a meeting with the high-profile delegation from the Gulf state.

The document also said Abu Dhabi expected Israel to open a diplomatic mission in the UAE soon as well.

“I have full confidence in your support for opening the diplomatic missions in Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi as soon as possible,” the letter said, as cited in the statement.
