Currently, your local council is able to pass anti-Israel legislation that undermines UK government policy and more importantly without your say. But in 2022, you have a wonderful opportunity to defend Israel at your doorstep.
Last year, the UK government confirmed that they were completely opposed to Local Government Pension Schemes pursuing boycotts and divestments that undermine UK foreign policy.
They also made a commitment to legislate to ban boycotts by local authorities as soon as parliamentary time allowed.
We understand that the government will legislate this year, but it’s really important that we use this opportunity to exert more pressure and ensure the government fulfils its commitment.
