Appreciation has flooded in for Ambassador Mark Regev, as Israel’s representative to the UK served his final day on Friday after coming to the end of his term.
“It has been a real pleasure to serve as Israel’s Ambassador during four exceptional years in the Israel-UK partnership,” said Regev in a tweet, “I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, and am grateful to all those who were part of it.”
The embassy confirmed that confirm Deputy Ambassador Sharon Barli will serve as Chargée d’Affaires in the interim until the arrival of a new Ambassador.
In a tweet by CUFI UK, Executive Director Des Starritt said, “CUFI would like to thank you for your excellent work in strengthening ties between Israel and the UK over the past few years and especially your warm friendship with the Christian community. Christian support for Israel in the UK has strengthened during your time here and CUFI will continue to work to ensure it grows even stronger. Blessings for the future”
Foreign Office Minister, James Cleverely tweeted, “It was a pleasure to speak to @MarkRegev today to congratulate him on a very successful 4 years as Israeli Ambassador to the UK. UK-Israel relationship continues to go from strength to strength. Mark, I hugely enjoyed working with you and I wish you all the very best for the future.”
Soon after being appointed as Israel’s ambassador to the UK, Mark Regev spoke at CUFI’s ‘A Night to Honour Israel’ in London in 2016, in which he expressed appreciation for Christian Zionism in the United Kingdom. Towards the end of his tenure, CUFI’s Erick Stakelbeck interviewed Ambassador Regev about the importance of the UK’s relationship with Israel. We have included excerpts from both occasions, which are a must-watch.
