Today, the Jewish people celebrate the 77th Yom Ha’Atzmaut – Israel’s Independence Day.

Seventy-seven years ago, on May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion stood in Tel Aviv’s Museum Hall and declared the establishment of the modern State of Israel. That moment forever impacted the course of human history and fulfilled ancient prophecy: “Shall a nation be born in a day? Shall a people be brought forth at once?” (Isaiah 66:8)

The very next day, five Arab armies launched a war to destroy the fledgling Jewish state. But they forgot one crucial truth: Israel’s defender is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. What God has ordained, no man can undo. “I will plant them in their land, and no longer shall they be pulled up from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God. (Amos 9:15)

Since that miraculous day, Israel has faced seemingly insurmountable trials, endured defensive wars, relentless terrorism, biased media coverage, international condemnation, and constant threats of annihilation. Yet in every battle and every crisis, Israel has stood strong by the grace of Almighty God.

Israel’s rebirth was a miracle, and its survival is a testimony to God’s faithfulness. The Jewish people have returned to the land promised to them, and they continue to build, bless, and inspire the world.

As Christians, our love for Israel comes directly from the heart of God. We stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel because our foundation is the Bible. And as Pastor John Hagee, founder of Christians United for Israel, declared just this week: “The Bible has a one-state solution: Israel today, Israel tomorrow, and Israel forever.”

On this Yom Ha’Atzmaut, we give thanks to God for the miracle of Israel and stand in prayerful support of His people.

Am Yisrael Chai – The nation of Israel lives!
