The Bible says that “righteousness exalts a nation”. The Bible also says that nations that bless Israel will be blessed. Whichever political party is at the helm, these two Biblical principles will determine Britain’s future, for better or for worse.

That isn’t to say that other political decisions and principles do not matter. We are all affected by decisions made in Westminster. But there are two clear instructions for Gentile nations on which true success and blessing hinge.

The first is ‘righteousness’. We pray that those in leadership will defend Britain’s Judeo-Christian values and seek God’s wisdom in their decisions. We pray for leaders who desire to act righteously with a fear of the Lord. We also pray for leaders who will protect our freedom to worship freely and live our lives according to the Bible, being able to bring up children in God’s truth, and able to express our faith and Biblical views publicly, even if it causes offense.

The second principle is ‘Israel’. There is one set of terms regarding how the nations of the earth will be judged – that is treatment of the Jewish people. There is only one country in the entire world, which God points to as a source of blessing.

Genesis 12:3 says, “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Joel 3:2 says, “I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.”

As we enter this new era with a new UK government, we pray that Britain will continue to stand with Israel. We pray that the Church will lead by example in fulfilling its mandate to bless Israel and the Jewish people. As we have done for more than nine years since launching in the UK, CUFI will continue to hold the government to account and make sure that Westminster hears the voice of tens of thousands of Christians who defend and desire to see Israel blessed.
