We call upon the British government to ban Iran’s IRGC terror organisation.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is a terror organisation that operates freely in the UK. The British government must outlaw it immediately.

In April, it was reported that the Prime Minister is planning to proscribe the IRGC in the next Parliament. We call upon the UK government to enact this proscription without any further delay.

Some political leaders seem to have run out of ideas for how to counter the rise of antisemitism. There is something practical that can be done without any delay – banning the IRGC.

The Iranian Embassy in London has called upon Iranians living in Britain to register to become “martyrs” for their evil jihadist cause. The Iranian regime must be prevented from trying to recruit terrorists on British soil. Islamist groups linked with the Iranian regime have claimed responsibility for firebombing attacks against London’s Jewish community. And there has been continued incitement and attacks against Jews. (Updated 30/4/26).

It is a travesty that despite all the atrocities committed by the Iranian regime, past and present, its terror arm is still not banned in the United Kingdom. Successive British governments have had the opportunity to ban the terror group but have delayed or made excuses. Without proscription, it is possible for the IRGC to operate in the UK and for entities and individuals to support the group’s aims, finance and recruit for the IRGC, and advance the malignant ambitions of the Iranian regime, including the desire to destroy Israel.

Thousands of innocent Iranians have been brutally murdered on the streets of Tehran and other cities. The extent of these crimes is still being discovered. The Iranian people need the UK government to act strongly and decisively. Banning the IRGC in the UK will send a strong message to counter the Iranian regime’s terrorism.

Allowing the IRGC to operate here in Britain has only served to benefit the Iranian regime and their terror proxies. The IRGC supports, arms, trains and funds Hezbollah, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Houthis. The UK rightly proscribed Hezbollah which was formed and is controlled by the IRGC. It makes no logical sense to ban one without the other as they are one and the same.

The IRGC represents a threat to UK citizens, the British Jewish community, and other UK nationals with connections to Israel. The IRGC is also a threat to British interests in the Middle East and our allies. Meanwhile, the IRGC’s Quds Force has a mandate to carry out the Iranian regime’s desire of destabilising the West and is involved in the illegal drug trade from South America into Britain, America, and Europe. 

The antisemitic Iranian regime describes Israel as a “cancerous tumour” that must be “eradicated”. Their desire to destroy Israel, the world’s only Jewish state, must be condemned and confronted. 

The IRGC is already banned in numerous other countries, including in the United States, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. The UK must do likewise.

Please demand that the UK government bans the IRGC with immediate effect.
