Christians United for Israel UK has launched its first ever campaign – combating the rise of anti-Semitism.

Christians Against Anti-Semitism is a landmark campaign intended for Christians to present a united voice in opposition to the recent rise of anti-Semitism in the UK and Europe.

Executive Director, Des Starritt says, “At Christians United for Israel UK we sense a duty to stand with the Jewish people and present a clear Christian voice that is based upon the biblical foundation that Christians should love and support the Jewish people. At a time when anti-Semitism is at record levels in the UK, it seems right that this should be our first UK campaign.”

CUFI has produced a 42-page campaign booklet, highlighting examples of anti-Semitic incidents so far in 2015 in the UK and Europe and explaining how Christians should respond. It also looks at lessons learned from the darkest period of the 20th Century and how the next generation will have to confront a new form of anti-Semitism already emerging in contemporary society.

The campaign also provides a number of ways people can take action, including a petition calling upon government representatives to take practical steps in opposing anti-Semitism.

“Whilst there are valuable secular campaigns opposing anti-Semitism, we feel that a ‘Christian’ response is also needed”, says Mr Starritt, “This is because we believe anti-Semitism is ‘anti-God’ as it undermines the place and purpose of God’s chosen people, the Jews.

“Already this year Europe has seen deadly terrorist attacks targeting Jews in Paris and Copenhagen. Whilst these major incidents make the headlines, many anti-Semitic attacks go unreported. It is this unchecked rise of anti-Semitic attitudes and ideologies, which impact Jews every day that needs to be challenged.”

The official UK launch event of Christians United for Israel takes place on 20th June in central London, where hundreds of Christians will gather together in support of Israel. The Christians against Anti-Semitism campaign is set to feature as part of the programme.

“We urge Christians to pray for this campaign, tell their friends and family and share with members of their church. History bears testimony of the horrifying consequence of ignoring the warning signs of anti-Semitic sentiment. Therefore, we ask that Christians across the country join us in making this stand. Together, and with the Lord’s help, we can stem this rising tide of anti-Semitism.”
