“Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.” (Isaiah 40:1)
The above Scripture has been used frequently in the past year following all the tragedies that have befallen Israel. The reason why we use it so often is because it emphasises the deep compassion and care that God has for His people.
God is the comforter of Israel, and as Christians, we must have a heart for the things of God. Therefore, we too seek to be a blessing and a comfort to the Jewish people also.
This week, we had the amazing opportunity to bless the Jewish people as we stood shoulder to shoulder with them in Hyde Park. Many Christians joined with the Jewish community to remember October 7th. We believe this was a comfort to God’s people.
So let’s continue to comfort and bless the Jewish people in prayer and in person. They will never be alone when Christians stand with them.
Here are the prayer points for this week:
- Praise the Lord for the successful event at Hyde Park, London where around 30,000 people gathered to remember those murdered and kidnapped on October 7th and to pray for the return of the hostages.
- Pray that there will be many more events where Christians and Jews can stand together in solidarity as the people of God.
- Pray for Christians to have the courage to stand up for Israel in Britain. The mainstream church may largely be silent now, but that doesn’t mean Christians are sitting idly by. Pray that God will enable CUFI and our supporters to reawaken the sleeping Church in Britain to stand boldly for Israel and speak the truth of the Bible.
- Pray for Israel as they observe the High Holy Days, including Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles). Pray for protection and peace in Israel at this important time of year.
- Continue to pray for the release of the 100 hostages who are still being held in Gaza. We particularly pray that Emily Damari, 28, the last British female hostage in Gaza, will soon be united with her mother who spoke so beautifully on Sunday.
- Pray that Israel will understand that God is watching over them and that every victory they have over their enemies is thanks to God Almighty. Israel is the apple of God’s eye, and we pray the Jewish people will draw closer to Him.
