The two day celebration of Rosh Hashanah started this year on Sunday 13th September and ends tonight (Tuesday) at sunset. The Biblical name for this holiday is Yom Teruah (literally “day of shouting/raising a noise”) or the Feast of Trumpets. Historically it was the beginning of the cycle of sowing, growth and harvest.
This Jewish New Year we ask you to stand with Christians United for Israel – UK as we raise up our voice on behalf of Israel and the Jewish people. Please consider sowing a financial seed to ensure our continued growth and a mighty harvest.
Since our launch in June CUFI-UK has been preparing the soil and planting seeds. Our “Christians Against Anti-Semitism” campaign is gaining momentum and we are taking every opportunity to stand with the Jewish Community. Last week alone we rallied support in Cardiff and London to challenge the anti-Israel lobby and a CUFI letter was published in The Guardian.
Our social media activity is growing fast and last week our Facebook posts received 16,000 Likes and a total reach of nearly 300,000. The CUFI website has received 45,000 visits.
We are making an impact but CUFI cannot do this alone. We need the continued support of partners like you to meet this great challenge. Together we are making a difference – thank you.
We ask that you help us to stand with Israel like never before—pray like never before, and take action like never before!
Rosh Hashanah customs include sounding the shofar (a hollowed-out ram’s horn) and eating symbolic foods such as apples dipped in honey to evoke a “sweet new year”. Please help us make this Rosh Hashanah a much sweeter and safer year for our Jewish friends with your prayers, your actions and your financial support.
Our fervent prayer for Rosh Hashanah is that our Jewish brethren will feel safer knowing that Christians across the UK are praying and acting and “raising a noise” on their behalf.
Thank you for your continued support.
