Abbas vows to sue UK, US and admits to Palestinian foreign interference

During a speech in Cairo, Egypt last week, Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Palestinian Authority (PA) vowed to take legal action against the UK and US over their support for Israel, admitted foreign interference in Western countries and gave his backing to terror. However, the PA’s media outlets hid these messages from the international transcript.

Amazingly, all of these statements were only for Palestinian and Arabic audiences, because in the international release of the transcript none of these parts were included.

Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) has helpfully released the transcripts in both English and Arabic, highlighting how the Palestinian leaders are two-faced in their dealings with the Western governments that fund them.

In the Arabic transcript that was published in the Official PA daily newspaper, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida on July 31, 2023 we read the truth.

Abbas vowed that his government will sue the British government and the US government over their support for Israel’s creation.

Mahmoud Abbas: “We also will submit lawsuits against the US and Britain for their responsibility for the Balfour Promise and its implementation through the British Mandate for Palestine.”

He continued that since Israel’s rebirth as a nation, the PA has been involved in an Islamic holy war against Israel. This flies in the face of PA representatives and Palestinian activists who claim that this is not a religious war but one about land.

It also counters the narrative of Western government, including the UK, that claim the PA is a partner for peace. The PA leader once again dispelled this myth.

Mahmoud Abbas: “Ever since Western colonialism – and the US and Britain in particular – conspired to issue the ominous Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration) in 1917, in which one who has no ownership gave a promise to one [Jews] who has no right, our people that is carrying out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict over land claimed to be Islamic) in Jerusalem and around Jerusalem has been fighting and carrying out Jihad against the colonialism and the occupation. It has been sacrificing thousands of Martyrs, wounded, and prisoners on the path to freedom, honour, and independence.

“This lauded people is continuing its legitimate struggle under the leadership of the PLO – its sole legal representative – which has succeeded thanks to the determination of its people, the sacrifices of its Martyrs, and its wise policy to extricate the entire world’s recognition of it…”

We have long known that Abbas supports terrorism and he believes it is the religious duty of Palestinians to wage “jihad” against Israel. Abbas funds terrorists to the tune of over one-hundred million pounds per year, thanks to our government and others funding them. However, it is always refreshing to see Abbas remove any doubt, especially when he spells it out so clearly.

There is no room here for people to claim Abbas is only talking of “jihad” in the context of a “duty”, but Abbas himself calls them “fighters” and the “martyrs” and that they are “sacrificing thousands” to the cause. Abbas is clearly putting this in the terminology of a holy war, which his government is funding and supporting. Additionally, he is praising terrorism of Palestinians from all terror groups not just the PA. Abbas then lauds the shrewdness of his governments ability to acquire global recognition despite supporting such a cause.

The Palestinian president also claimed that his government was trying to subvert Western governments by changing public opinion, specifically highlighting the PA’s attempts to do this in the US.

A key element to the PA strategy is the spreading of the “Palestinian narrative”. A false account of history that does not line up with historical records, archaeological evidence or the Bible. Despite a lack of evidence, Abbas claims Palestinians have lived in the land for thousands of years.

Mahmoud Abbas: “One of our most important weapons today is disseminating our Palestinian narrative, which confirms the Palestinian people’s existence on its historical homeland and its consecutive presence on this land for thousands of years (sic., the Palestinians have no history prior to the modern period). The authentic Palestinian narrative is currently gaining acceptance and sympathy worldwide.”

Every historical record, every word of the Bible and every archaeological dig debunks Abbas’s false claims and only helps to emphasise the truth that Israel and the Jewish people have been in the land of Israel for millennia. Despite this, Abbas continues to spread his lies and claims them as truth.

One area that Abbas is correct though is that these lies are being accepted as fact by more and more people. And Abbas admitted that the strategy of the PA is to spread these lies further. They have already brainwashed their own people to believe them, so now they are trying to brainwash the public of other nations to believe the lies also.

Mahmoud Abbas: “We are also especially focusing on creating changes in public opinion in the colonialist states that have sponsored Israel and are still sponsoring it to this very day, and especially in the US.”

Think about that. Abbas is heavily funded by Western governments and he’s now openly admitting to a strategy of subverting these governments’ by trying to change public opinion behind their backs. This is foreign interference. Will our government react to this?

Abbas also explained how his end goal is to see the destruction of Israel.

Mahmoud Abbas: “We will certainly triumph, we will defeat the occupation [Israel]… for every occupation passes in the end, and this will be the fate of the hated Israeli occupation of our homeland.”

None of what Abbas said is new. And it comes to show how much of the world has been hoodwinked into believing the false Palestinian narrative. Part of the reason for this is that the PA always has two messages, one for its own people and another for the West.

It’s no surprise then that none of the above statements were included in the English transcript of Abbas’s speech. Instead, the international audience is fed the notion that Abbas is seeking “unity” between the Palestinian factions3. The PA controlled publication was careful to exclude all incriminating evidence that would shatter the delusion that Abbas is for peace.

The Palestinians are openly mocking their allies. They are speaking the truth in broad daylight, but our governments are refusing to listen and wilfully accept the lies instead.

As Christians who love Israel, we cannot be deceived by these lies and distortions. We must take Abbas at his word and understand the intentions of Israel’s enemies. They want nothing less than the destruction of Israel. They will ultimately fail, but we must continue to stand as watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem and pray for Israel and the Jewish people. And indeed, let’s pray our government finally opens its eyes to this evil.
