Britain banned Hamas for a reason. Now it is time to uphold the law and enforce that ban without compromise.
There is currently an attempt to exploit European human rights laws to have Hamas ‘un-banned’ in the UK. However, you might struggle to find evidence that Hamas was outlawed in the first place. Every week there is open support for Hamas on the streets of Britain and praise for Hamas on social media is rampant. It seems British authorities have done little to stop it.
This is dangerous because Hamas is a radical Islamist terror group akin to ISIS. It is antisemitic to the core; it deliberately targets Israeli civilians in its attacks, and it uses Palestinian civilians as human shields. Furthermore, Hamas is also a threat to the West, which is why support for Hamas in Britain must not be allowed.
Not just dangerous; it is illegal.
In 2021, the UK government designated Hamas in its entirety as a proscribed terrorist organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000. This means that it is a criminal offence to:
- Belong to or invite support for Hamas (Section 12(1)–(2)),
- Arrange a meeting in support of Hamas (Section 12(2)),
- Wear clothing or carry articles that arouse reasonable suspicion of support for Hamas (Section 13),
- Publish statements supportive of Hamas or intended to encourage support (Sections 1 and 12).
Hamas support is a criminal offence.
We therefore call upon the UK Government, the Crown Prosecution Service, the police, and the judiciary to do their duty under the law:
Investigate and prosecute individuals and organisations that openly support Hamas.
Enforce existing laws under the Terrorism Act 2000 to ensure that the proscription of Hamas is not merely symbolic.
Crack down on hate crimes and incitement by anti-Israel activists against Jews, Israelis, and all those who support Israel.
The Jewish community — along with all British citizens who support Israel — are increasingly subject to intimidation, abuse, and incitement from activists who blur the line between political protest and outright terror glorification. This must not be tolerated.
We reject calls for jihad on British streets. We reject the normalisation of terrorist propaganda under the guise of activism. We reject the environment of fear created by anti-Israel protesters. And we reject the inaction of authorities in the face of these threats.
We demand Justice, not Jihad. Law, not lawlessness.
Support this petition to demand action:
- To uphold the law and prosecute terror supporters.
- To protect British Jews and allies of Israel.
- To shield the UK from terrorist threats.
- To safeguard the public from the promotion of extremist views.
- To defend Britain’s Judeo-Christian values.
The UK banned Hamas for a reason. Now it’s time to enforce that ban.
