Earlier this month it was revealed that the UK threatened to recognise ‘Palestine’ as an independent country in 2020 if Israel was to go ahead with plans to annex parts of Judea and Samaria.

The ultimatum was issued in the summer of 2020 after then Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to apply Israeli sovereignty to Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley.

Dame Karen Pierce, then the British ambassador to the United Nations, told American officials that if Israel did not abandon the annexation plan, the United Kingdom would immediately recognise a sovereign state of Palestine, according to the Jewish News.

This is a shocking revelation that would have been a radical shift from British foreign policy. The UK has long held a view that the will recognise ‘Palestine’ only when a peace deal has been made between Israel and the Palestinians.

It is shameful that the UK even considered such a move. The land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people, and that includes Judea and Samaria. This both ratified in international law and inscribed in the passages of Scripture.

The land of Israel belongs to the Jews since the time of Abraham when it was given to them by God Almighty. And no decree from any government on earth can change this fact.

We pray that the UK never again issues this shameful threat and instead recognises the truth about Israel and its rightful claim to the land.
