The opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem marked a historic and Biblical moment for Israel on the 70th anniversary of the Jewish State’s independence.

CUFI’s Founder, Pastor John Hagee, was honoured to give the benediction at the opening ceremony of the US Embassy in which he thanked the Lord. We have included a transcript of the prayer below, or you can also watch it by clicking here.

As people around the world were watching the opening on TV news or on the internet, some broadcasters, including the BBC, decided to “split screen” by showing the ceremony at the same time as showing the riots that were developing at the Gaza border. The media deliberately tried to draw comparisons between the special ceremony taking place with dignitaries in the secure compound of the new US embassy and the appalling scenes of Palestinian protesters, all full of rage, anger; some injured; all with a backdrop of black smoke billowing into the sky . The contrast could not be more stark. If someone had any objection to the US embassy move before, the broadcasters did their best to turn attention away from the historic occasion and fuel anger even further.

The media not only used the tactics of contrast and distraction, but also deliberately misled viewers by sourcing the terrorists themselves, Hamas. Where the media went with their narrative, many politicians followed. The narrative being carried was not the truth, but that which Hamas wanted the world to believe.

However, when an Hamas official told Palestinian TV on Wednesday that 50 of the 63 killed by Israel were members of the terror group, the same media kept quiet. Three more were members of Islamic Jihad meaning that 85% of those killed at Israel’s security fence were terrorists.

This is the truth that the media and politicians have chosen to ignore. Yet there are those that if presented with the TRUTH are prepared to change their opinion. One of these people was Nick Boles, Conservative MP for Grantham and Stamford. He tweeted this,

“Yesterday I criticised Israel’s handling of the protests at the Gaza border. I should not have been so quick to judge,” said Boles, “We now learn that the 50 of those killed were Hamas terrorists. Israel had an absolute right to defend itself against such attacks.”The Tory MP’s U-turn should be applauded. His integrity led him to admit his misjudgement and shows how opinions can change when presented with the truth.

Mr Boles should have waited for facts to emerge before criticising Israel, but this illustrates how powerful lies and deception really are. Whilst there are those that know the truth and reject it, there are many that are sincere in their assessments, yet are not hearing the truth.

Perhaps we know friends and families that are this way inclined, or even brothers and sisters at our church that hold negative views towards Israel, because they are hearing only one side of the story. Perhaps we have people on our Facebook friends list that are only reading one narrative. Yet every time you share the truth, the narrative of lies suffers another blow.

The same can be said for the Biblical truth that forms the Christian basis for standing with Israel. In the same manner it is the truth found in the Word of God that is able to counter the lies that are misleading so many against Israel. It is this Bible truth that convicts, the same truth that must be spoken if we are to see people change their hearts towards Israel and align their thinking with God’s Word. In Ephesians 6 is the “belt of truth” that holds together all other armour. It MUST be preserved if we are to remain effective in battle.

Proverbs 12:17: “He who speaks truth declares righteousness, But a false witness, deceit.”

We can be encouraged today, that our standing for Israel is not in vain. We must continue to share the truth and pray that more leaders like Mr Boles will realise they were wrong. The lies must be challenged. For Zion’s sake, we must not remain silent.

Pastor Hagee’s Benediction at the US Embassy Opening Ceremony

Our most gracious Heavenly Father, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God who calls the stars by name, and measures space by the span of His hand, the God who is the King of the universe, we gather here today to thank you for the joy of living and seeing this glorious and historic day.  We thank you for the State of Israel, the lone torch of freedom in the Middle East who lives and prospers because of Your everlasting love for the Jewish people.  It was You oh LORD who gathered the exiles from the nations and brought them home again.  It was You who made statehood possible.  It was You who gave a miraculous victory in 1967 when Jerusalem was reopened to worshipers of all faiths.  Jerusalem is the city of God.  Jerusalem is the heartbeat of Israel.  Jerusalem is the place where Abraham placed his son on the altar of the Temple Mount and became the father of many nations.  Jerusalem is where Isaiah and Jeremiah penned principles of righteousness that became the moral foundations of western civilization.  Jerusalem is where Messiah will come and establish a kingdom that will never end.  We thank you oh LORD for President Donald Trump’s courage in acknowledging to the world a truth established 3,000 years ago that Jerusalem is and always shall be the eternal capital of the Jewish people.  And because of that courage of our President, we gather here today to consecrate the ground upon which the United States embassy will stand, reminding the dictators of the world that America and Israel are forever united.  We thank you for our ambassador, David Friedman, and pray your anointing upon him as he opens the doors of the U.S. embassy to receive the nations of the world.  Let the word go forth from Jerusalem today that Israel lives.  Shout it from the housetops that Israel lives.  Let every Islamic terrorist hear this message: ‘Israel lives.’  Let it be heard in the halls of the United Nations: ‘Israel lives.’  Let it echo down the halls of the presidential palace in Iran: ‘Israel lives.’  Let it be known to all men that Israel lives because He that keepeth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.  As King David prayed 3,000 years ago: ‘We pray for the peace of Jerusalem and all its inhabitants.  Let the Name of the LORD be glorified today, for the defender of Israel today, tomorrow, and forever is here.’  Can we all shout, ‘Hallelujah!’  Amen!
