Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an unannounced trip to Jordan on Tuesday to meet with the country’s King Abdullah II.

The two leaders discussed regional issues, in particular strategic, security and economic cooperation between Israel and Jordan.

The pair are said to have praised the long-standing friendship and partnership between Israel and Jordan which they say contributes to 6stability in the Middle East.

The meeting of the two leaders comes after a series of diplomatic spats between the countries surrounding the Temple Mount. Jordan is the custodian of the site, which is the holiest place for Jews as it is where God commanded the Jewish people to build the Temple.

The international community and the Muslim world regard the site as being primarily a Muslim holy site despite the clear Jewish connections and history in Jerusalem. Likewise, the “status quo” of the site is discriminatory towards Jews who are restricted from entering the site apart from at specific times and in small groups. Jews are also forbidden to pray at their most holy site.

It is important that we continue to pray for Israel’s leaders, that they will have wisdom when dealing with this their neighbours and also with the politics around the Temple Mount. This was the place God chose for His name to be praised, something that is not happening at this time.
