The United Kingdom has rallied to Israel’s defence this week following the invasion and brutal massacre perpetrated by Hamas with King Charles leading the condemnation of Hamas and Prince William supporting Israel’s right to self-defence.
The unprecedented statements by Britain’s Royal Family comes as Britain prepares to send Royal Navy ships to the eastern Mediterranean in a show of solidarity with Israel.
King Charles said he was appalled” and condemns the “barbaric acts of terrorism in Israel”, according to Buckingham Palace sources. He also telephoned Israel’s president, Isaac Herzog, to express support for the people of Israel.
The palace spokesman said: “This is a situation His Majesty is extremely concerned about, and he has asked to be kept actively updated.
“His thoughts and prayers are with all of those suffering, particularly those who have lost loved ones, but also those actively involved as we speak.”
In another exception to Royal protocol, Prince William and Princess Catherine also condemned Hamas, describing them as terrorists, something the BBC has stubbornly refused to do.
A spokesperson for the Prince and Princess of Wales said: “[They] are profoundly distressed by the devastating events that have unfolded in the past days.
“The horrors inflicted by Hamas’s terrorist attack upon Israel are appalling, they utterly condemn them.”
The statement also recognised Israel’s right to self-defence, “As Israel exercises its right to self defence, all Israelis and Palestinians will be continued to be stalked by grief, fear and anger in the time to come.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, issued a statement through their charity, The Archewell Foundation, saying they ‘stand against all acts of terrorism and brutality’ but stopped short of mentioning Hamas. They added, “We are supporting our partners and organizations on the frontlines in Israel to provide the urgent aid needed, and to help all innocent victims of this unconscionable level of human suffering.”
This year, we want to do more to bless Israel and the Jewish people.
We know that as we bless Israel this year, God will bless us, just as He promised in Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Now is the time to bless Israel and the Jewish people.
