Tell Liz Truss that Britain should move its embassy to Jerusalem
With Jerusalem Day beginning on the evening of 28 May, we felt it was a good opportunity to remind UK Parliament of this fact and the importance of moving the UK embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Will you please take a moment to email the Foreign Secretary using our automated form?
Our suggested wording includes the following points:
- There is a British Consulate in Jerusalem, but it is only for Palestinians, not Israelis. Whereas the British Embassy to Israel is in Tel Aviv.
- Every nation has the right to choose the location of its capital city. Israel has chosen Jerusalem.
- The UK has over 80 embassies in capital cities around the world, but not in Israel’s, despite the fact that Israel’s parliament and government are located in Jerusalem.
- The US decision to move its embassy in 2018 proves it is possible without significant diplomatic repercussions.
Discrimination by the UK government against the world’s only Jewish state must end. At a time when the UK seeks to deepen its bilateral ties with Israel, there could be no better way of demonstrating this by acknowledging Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
Please take a few moments to send an email using our suggested wording (with Cc to your MP). It only takes a few minutes.

UK GOVERNMENT: RECOGNISE JERUSALEM
“We call upon the UK Government to officially recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem”
100 years after Britain liberated Jerusalem, it’s time for Britain to honour Israel’s capital
In 1917 Britain lead the way and recognised the need for the Jewish people to have a national home of their own in the land of Israel. General Allenby respected the Holy City of Jerusalem and we want Britain to do the same today. At CUFI we believe that it is necessary to make a stand for Israel, even in the midst of opposition. As Christians, we are called to be ‘Watchman on the walls’ and we are convinced that recognising Jerusalem, the capital for the Jewish people for over 3,000 years, is the right thing to do. Read
