Iran’s top military commander has called on Hezbollah and the Palestinians to carry out a ground invasion of Israel.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s website posted an interview this month with Hossein Salami, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who argued that the Palestinians and Hezbollah must launch a “ground war” against the Jewish state.

According to translations provided by MEMRI, Salami praised Palestinian and Hezbollah terrorism against Israel, particularly the rocket attacks launched at Israeli civilians.

He then said that while “missiles are excellent for deterrence or for waging static wars, they do not liberate the lands.”

Salami claimed that in order to do that they must move beyond isolated terrorism to a more organised invasion of Israel.

The Iranian commander believes that Israel’s army, while well equipped, lacks the same level of religious extremism and he believes that characterises Hezbollah, Palestinians and Iran.

He added, “the Palestinians are ready today for ground warfare. Israel’s biggest weakness is ground warfare.”

This type of rhetoric is very common amongst Iran’s top brass, however, it is quite something that as Iran seeks a nuclear deal with the Western world, an attempt to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons that it says it will use against Israel, the IRGC leader comes out and threatens the destruction of Israel.

The intentions of the Iranian regime could not be more clear. They want Israel to be destroyed and they are willing to use any means necessary.

Additionally, this is the head of the IRGC which the UK government should outlaw as a terrorist organisation. The leader of the IRGC is not only praising the deadly attack of terrorist groups against Israeli civilians, but he is also calling for an all-out war against Israel. He is threatening our ally, Israel.

Iran’s aim is the destruction of the Jewish people. The fact the UK has not outlawed the IRGC in the UK is shameful and our government is willing to give billions of pounds to the Iranian regime for a weakened Iran Deal is insanity.

Iran’s actions threaten Israel. The rogue regime of Iran must be challenged. The UK and our allies must stop being so weak.
