The European Parliament has voted in favour of requesting that the European Union outlaw the IRGC.

The vote passed 598-9, showing almost unanimous agreement that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was a terrorist threat that should not be allowed to operate in Europe.

Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen commended the European Parliament on Wednesday for requesting the IRGC be added to the EU’s terror list.

“Iran is a terrorist state that exports terrorism to the Middle East, Europe and the entire world,” said Cohen. “The introduction of the Revolutionary Guards, the largest terrorist organization in the world, to the list of terrorist organizations of the European Union, is an important step in the fight against the Iranian regime,” he added.

Prior to the vote, parliament members condemned Iran’s recent executions of anti-regime protesters.

German politician Hannah Neumann said, “As long as Revolutionary Guards terrorize their own people and the entire region, we should treat them as terrorists and put them on the sanctions list.”

If the EU was to outlaw the IRGC, it would make it a criminal offence to belong to the group, attend meetings or show support for the group in public.

Let’s pray for wisdom for European politicians as they weigh up this decision. We also pray the UK will have the courage to do the same.

This year, we want to do more to bless Israel and the Jewish people.

We know that as we bless Israel this year, God will bless us, just as He promised in Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Now is the time to bless Israel and the Jewish people.
