This week we got a taste of Abbas’s support for terrorism as he visited Jenin, the location where Israeli forces faced off against Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists over the past few weeks.

Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas visited Jenin Wednesday, giving a speech in which he tried to project a show of force against both Israel and Hamas. He went there with a large security detail, with over a hundred armed forces.

“Everyone works to stay in the homeland until we liberate this entire country with Jerusalem as its capital,” he said, talking to several hundred supporters of his Fatah movement at the entrance to the refugee camp adjacent to the city.

“We will remain in our country, and we will not leave it until Allah bequeaths [us] the land and those on it, and until they leave our land,” he added, seemingly referring to any and all Israelis.

“We must get rid of the occupation and tell them to leave us,” he repeated.

When Abbas is talking about the “entire country”, you only need to look at Palestinian maps to know this is not the so-called West Bank (Judea and Samaria) that he is talking about. He’s talking about the entirety of Israel. Likewise, he’s talking about Jerusalem as a whole, not split into two as so many Western governments advocate for.

Additionally, Abbas used Allah when referencing his plans. We are often told this is not a religious war and that the Palestinian Authority is “secular”. However, it’s clear that Abbas puts strong emphasis on his beliefs when talking about liberating the land.

Abbas then went on to praise the violence stemming from Jenin, and in particularly the terror groups that have established themselves there.

Abbas said that “steadfast Jenin and its heroic camp are the… icon of struggle, steadfastness and defiance.” And that it “stood against the aggression and sacrificed its people for the homeland”.

He also appealed for unity. “We came to say we are one authority, one state, one law, one security and one stability”.

Last week Israeli forces entered Jenin camp, a lawless part of the city of Jenin that is run by the Jenin Brigade, a loose alliance between outlawed terror groups including PIJ and Hamas. The two-day military campaign to arrest terrorists was successful, but the IDF came under heavy attack from terror groups. Twelve Palestinians terrorists were killed, all of them armed fighters of the Jenin Brigades and one Israeli soldier was killed.

It should be pointed out that no Palestinian civilians were killed in the raid, which was a pinpointed attack against terrorists and their infrastructure. Israel should be praised for being so meticulous in its plans. Meanwhile, PIJ used child soldiers which it trained and armed, in contravention of human rights laws.

Abbas is wrongly labelled a “partner for peace” by many. The fact he this week praised outlawed terror groups, called for unity with them, and effectively vowed to end Israel, blows the peace partner lie out of the water.

This year, we want to do more to bless Israel and the Jewish people.

We know that as we bless Israel this year, God will bless us, just as He promised in Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Now is the time to bless Israel and the Jewish people.
